AMENITIES & SERVICES

What to expect: A lovely Caribbean-style resort, El Cozumeleno is family-friendly and hospitable, providing lots of activities and facilities while also offering areas of peace-and-quiet. Amenity highlights: The main pool serves as an activities area. Free form, two-level, and expansive, it includes three semi-circular hot tubs, a shallow children's section, and a volleyball net. Elevated between the pool deck, which is furnished with lounge chairs, and the beach is a large hot tub providing sweeping sea views. The resort's second pool is for relaxing and arrayed around it are padded lounge chairs. Adjacent is a children's pool containing a giant, yellow mushroom "shower." Running off the main pool is a semi-indoor pool in an open-air pavilion shaded by a large dome painted with a sky mural and encircled by windows for natural light. The pool contains a hot tub section. Insider tip: At the end of a long, slender pier running from the beach is a fishing site which is productive with just a hand line.

Caribbean design, style, and atmosphere suffuse the El Cozumeleno Beach Resort, which contains 244 guestrooms in two towers. The resort's many activities include shows produced by the activity/entertainment staff at the resort's open-air theater three nights weekly. A lovely plaza next to the indoor pool contains a colorful ceramic fountain, plus a black-and-white chess set with pieces the size of third graders. Also within the resort are a small, air-conditioned fitness center, a children's activities center, and a dive center for arranging scuba diving and snorkeling excursions. Like most Cozumel hotels, the El Cozumeleno recommends against drinking tap water and supplies bottled water. Note: Extra fees may apply for some features/services.
